The African Solutions Journal (AfSol Journal), a flagship publication of the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS), provides a platform for critical debate and African-centred solutions to peace and security challenges. It bridges academic and policy communities by generating both theoretical and practical knowledge for scholars, practitioners, and decision-makers committed to a peaceful and prosperous Africa.
The journal draws on Africa’s diverse knowledge systems, integrating emerging practices, past experiences, oral traditions, and insights from academic, media, and policy sources. Rooted in Africa’s histories, values, and trajectories of both achievement and missed opportunity, it seeks to consolidate dispersed knowledge into a coherent and evolving intellectual framework. By bringing together fragmented African perspectives on peace, security, and governance, the AfSol Journal fosters sustained scholarly exchange and advances the development of African-centred approaches to understanding and addressing conflict and insecurity across the continent.
